Chet Hanks took to his Instagram story on Monday to share a hilarious text exchange with his famous dad, Tom Hanks, who asked to be brought up to speed on the beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
"Big Main, can you explain the Drake/Kendrick Lamar feud to me?" the "Forrest Gump" star, 67, wrote to his 33-year-old son.
Chet Hanks certainly didn't skimp on the details, replying to his dad by laying out the entire feud in a text so lengthy that it didn't fit in a single screenshot.
He broke down the fact that the war of words began when J. Cole referred to himself, Drake and Lamar as the "big three" in rap on the 2023 track "First Person Shooter," only for Lamar to reject this idea on Future and Metro Boomin's song "Like That" by rapping, "It's just big me."

The feud has continuously escalated since then with Drake and Lamar both releasing diss tracks against one another. In his text, Chet Hanks wrote that Lamar "pretty much methodically dismantled Drakes entire psyche and called him a pedophile for flirting with young girls," also telling his dad that one of Lamar's diss tracks "was pretty much the sonic equivalent of when you took me to your high school in Oakland and we walked in on the basketball game and everybody started going nuts."

"Holy cow!" Tom Hanks, who the screenshot shows is listed in Chet's phone as "pops," wrote back. "These are fighting words. People taking sides?? Who's winning?"
People are, in fact, taking sides, and this question led Chet Hanks to ask his dad, "Did you not just read what I said," adding laughing crying emojis. He had previously noted that one of Lamar's diss tracks "solidified the win not only for Kendrick but the entire West Coast."

Tom Hanks shares his son Chet with wife Rita Wilson. The 33-year-old has appeared in movies like his father's "Greyhound" and shows like "Shameless" and "Your Honor." In 2021, he went viral after infamously declaring he had a "feeling" that "this summer is about to be a white boy summer" and subsequently released a song titled "White Boy Summer."
In a 2022 YouTube video, Hanks opened up about growing up with famous parents, noting that "there's a lot of advantages, but sometimes it can be pretty weird." He added that he is "just now getting to the point where I'm starting to truly feel that I don't really have anything to prove to anyone."
