ANAHEIM, Calif. − Pixar revealed incredible news at D23 Fan Expo on Friday: The animation studio is making "Incredibles 3."
Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter dropped the bombshell in front of 12,000 fans, the largest crowd ever for the Disney fan convention.
"As you can see, we have some 'Incredibles' projects," Docter said at the end of his presentation, before adding, "That's right, we're making 'Incredibles 3.' "
Docter told the audience that Brad Bird, the writer/director behind the Oscar-winning "Incredibles" and "Incredibles 2," is developing the third movie. He had no further details or release date for the project. But the D23 crowd went nuts about the news.

This summer's “Inside Out 2" passed “Incredibles 2” as Pixar’s highest-grossing film ever, as well as Disney Animation’s “Frozen II” as the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
Pixar is going 'Hoppers' in new animated film, 'Toy Story 5' crew face tough tech
Pixar is also going "Hoppers."
Coming off the success of "Inside Out 2," Docter introduced the brand-new animated film "Hoppers." The film features Mabel (Pipe Curder), a girl whose mind is transported into the body of a life-like robotic beaver thanks to ground-breaking technology.
"Hoppers" is coming to theaters in spring 2026. In it, Mabel will encounter King Beaver (voiced by "SNL" star Bobby Moynihan) and the villainous human Mayor Jerry (voiced by Jon Hamm).
Docter also announced that Adam Stanton, director of "Finding Nemo" and writer of all the "Toy Story" movies, would write and direct Toy Story 5.
Stanton took the stage and revealed the new villain facing the toys in the fifth "Toy Story" film — technology. He released concept art showing a child transfixed by a tablet under a blanket while the toys look on sadly.
"The toys' jobs get exponentially harder when our toy crew goes head-to-head with what kids are obsessed with today, electronics," said Stanton. "There is serious competition with phones and tablets everywhere. So this time around it's toys meet tech."
Stanton added that one "considerable problem" in the film is the technological specter of "50 rogue commemorative Buzz Lightyear action figures stuck in toy mode."
"It's going to be so fun," Stanton added. "Toy Story 5" will be released summer of 2026.
'Inside Out' gets TV series 'Dream Productions'
Docter discussed Pixar's first TV series, inspired by the world of the "Inside Out" films, called "Dream Productions." The series, which takes place between both "Inside Out" movies, will reveal how Riley's dreams are made each night — on budget and on time.
"It's set between 'Inside Out 1' and 'Inside Out 2.' So think of it as an in-between," said Doctor.
'Avatar 3' has a title: 'Fire and Ash'
"Avatar" director James Cameron flew in from filming "Avatar 3" in New Zealand to address the D23 crowd for the Disney slate.
After bringing stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana onstage, Cameron said it was too soon to start showing footage of the third film. But he officially released the title "Avatar: Fire and Ash."
"The new film is not what you expect, but it's definitely what you want," Cameron added. "Fire and Ash" comes to theaters in Dec. 2025.
The Rock dances before introducing new trailer for 'Moana 2'
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (who voices Maui) and Auli'i Cravalho (as Moana) opened up the D23 slate with a large Polynesian-themed musical number, that featured Cravalho singing beautifully and Johnson breaking out into dance.
The box office star revealed there will be much more to his demi-god role in the new film hitting theaters Nov. 27.
"Maui is singing again. Singing in keys that don't exist," said Johnson, who famously sang "You're Welcome" in "Moana."
The "Moana 2" crew revealed a new trailer highlighting a plot that brings Moana out of the safety of her Hawaiian island.
"It's a look beyond the reef, and having the guts to go for more," said Johnson.
