A U.S. Army soldier in Hawaii is in custody, weeks after his six-month pregnant wife went missing earlier this month.
“An individual has been placed into military custody in the Mischa Johnson missing person case. Mischa Johnson’s husband, Private First Class Dewayne Arthur Johnson II, is currently in military pretrial confinement in Hawaii,” according to a statement from the Army’s 25th Infantry Division on Monday.
Army officials did not clarify if Dewayne Johnson had yet been charged under the Uniformed Code of Military Justice.

Mischa Johnson reported missing on August 1
Mischa Johnson, 19 years old and six months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, was last seen inside her home at Schofield Barracks, O’ahu, Hawaii, on July 31. Her disappearance was reported to the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) the following day. Army CID has been partnering with local law enforcement agencies while investigating the disappearance and has offered a $10,000 reward for information regarding the case.
CID officials described Mischa Johnson as a Filipino woman who is 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 170 pounds, and has a large dragon tattoo on her back.
Dewayne Johnson, from Frederick, Maryland, enlisted in the Army in November 2022 and attended One Station Unit Training at Fort Moore, Georgia. He has been assigned to the 25th Infantry Division as a Cavalry Scout since June, 2023.
“Our efforts remain focused on locating Mischa, support to her family, and the safety and security of all personnel at US Army Hawaii installations,” Army officials said in a statement. “This is a current and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time. We encourage anyone who may have information regarding Mischa Johnson to contact CID.”
